When: Friday, February 16, at 2 p.m.
Where: 14 Berkeley Road, Avondale Estates
The City of Avondale Estates invites the community to celebrate Arbor Day and the City's 34th year as a Tree City. Avondale Estates is one of the few tree cities in DeKalb County, and one of the first in the state of Georgia. The Avondale Estates Garden Club has once again donated funds for the purchase of a memorial tree. This year's tree planting will be in memory of two people: Jeanne Chaney, a former member of the AE Garden Club, and Ed Lovings, husband of Mary Lovings.
The Arbor Day Foundation highlights the importance of planting trees on Arbor Day. "The trees we plant clean air, beautify our neighborhoods, provide homes for wildlife, conserve energy and topsoil and help keep the atmosphere in balance. And life is just better when we live amongst the trees."
