About the Board of Mayor and Commissioners
Members of the Board of Mayor and Commissioners (BOMC) collectively serve as the governing body for the City of Avondale Estates and exercise the legislative authority of the city. The board consists of a mayor and four commissioners. Members are elected by the residents of Avondale Estates and serve four-year terms.
BOMC members are tasked with making policy decisions for the community. The BOMC appoints a professional city manager tasked with carrying out the policies established by the BOMC. Board members have no individual authority but act only by a majority vote of the BOMC as a whole.
The board conducts monthly regular meetings and work sessions. Special Called Meetings are held as needed. All meetings of the Board of Mayor and Commissioners are open to the public.
