The Board of Mayor and Commissioners, along with city staff, sends condolences to the family of Terry Deen Giager, who passed away on February 18, 2025. Giager served the city of Avondale Estates for eight years in numerous roles, including mayor, mayor pro tem and commissioner.
Giager is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeanne Herring Giager of Avondale Estates; his son, Justin Brant Giager (Jordan) of Johns Creek; his daughter, Brandi Jene Giager of Oklahoma City; his stepson, David Franklin Moore of Atlanta; and his grandson, Brant Austin Giager of Johns Creek.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held March 1 at 1 p.m. at Briarlake Baptist Church (3715 LaVista Rd. Decatur, GA. 30033) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Briarlake Baptist Church or Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia.
