The City of Avondale Estates recently brought on Marcel Jackson as its new Public Works Director. His first day on the job was Monday, November 9.
Marcel was most recently the Director of Public Works for the City of Montezuma. He comes highly recommended and is credited with professionalizing Montezuma’s Public Works program. He has a master’s degree in Public Administration and another in Organizational Development and Leadership. Marcel also carries an Advanced Certificate of Public Works Management and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
“I'm excited and ecstatic about the opportunity to help serve the citizens of Avondale Estates,” he said. With my experience and knowledge, I look forward to bringing new innovative ways to improve the service delivery and the quality of life here in Avondale.”
He and his wife, Luquanda, have two daughters, Madison 11 and Chasity 20, and one son - Cameron 20. He is UGA fan. He is also a recent Memphis Tigers fan, where his nephew attends and plays football. He has channeled his love of sport into Montezuma’s Community Booster Club, helping to coach and mentor kids from his hometown. In that role he coached local football celebrity, Roquan Smith, and today continues to follow Roquan’s professional football career as a member of the Chicago Bears.
