Dear Neighbors,
The Governor’s shelter in place order ended for most on April 30. As most of you, I am apprehensive at best about what is next. We, the city, will continue restrictions on public space in Avondale Estates that we have already implemented including use of the lake, the parks, and city hall. As the situation changes and circumstances allow, we will be moving toward re-opening these facilities when it is safe to do so for our residents, staff, and visitors. Also, we are advising everyone to continue following CDC guidance.
If you choose to continue sheltering in place or wearing a mask in public, please be confident in that decision. Let’s all respect one another’s decisions and give each other distance.
I am happy to report that as of yesterday, Stephanie Morales’ food truck in Pine Lake has served 3,665 free meals and counting to first responders and has raised over $9000 of a $12,000 goal. Donations can be made here.
You are doing a great job during this pandemic, so please keep up the community effort. Stay safe and was those hands.
All the best,
Jonathan Elmore, Mayor
City of Avondale Estates
