The Weekend Wind Down concert series returns to the Town Green returns to the Town Green for its fourth year, with six concerts on Sundays in April, May, June, September, October, and November. The series will take a break in the middle of summer and resume in the fall. The events are free to the public and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Through TDawg Presents, the city has again lined up a stellar diverse mix of local veteran bands and up-and-coming fresh new acts.
Concert Lineup
Sunday, April 13: 5 to 8 p.m. Bird City Revolutionaries blend reggae, dub, Afro-funk, Ethiopian jazz, and psychedelic grooves to create a sound as dynamic and diverse as their members, resulting in a genre-defying musical experience.
Sunday, May 18: 5 to 8 p.m. Tire Fire: an electric thunderclap of burning bluegrass sound, witnessing a Tire Fire performance is like grabbing onto a live wire of musical energy. Tire Fire will take you on a journey from the foothills of the Appalachians to the heights of your imagination, featuring a fast-paced, psychedelic use of acoustic instrumentation alongside Americana and Newgrass songwriting.
Sunday, June 8: 6 to 9 p.m. The Jessie Williams Band, recognized in Creative Loafing as one of Atlanta’s most notable women in the blues and Guitar.com as a “young bluesbreaker making the blues fun again,” count on a night with old-school, downhome blues, tinged with southern influences from this self-described mountain mama grounded in sultry blues and soul.
Sunday, Sept. 14: 5 to 8 pm (Hispanic Heritage Month) COT Band, Atlanta’s favorite Latin band with a musical fusion of Caribbean Rhythms with elements of funk, pop and Brazilian beats, will be back to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. Get ready to dance – salsa lessons included.
Sunday, Oct. 12: 5 to 8 pm The Bonaventure Quartet, an Atlanta-based acoustic jazz band combines gypsy jazz and American swing into original tunes. With the sultry, silky voice of former Lost Continentals frontwoman Amy Pike and the gypsy-jazz flavored guitar of Charles Williams, Bonaventure is a marvelous melting pot of Southern sass and the smokey jazz of Parisian cabarets.
Sunday, Nov. 9: Stay tuned!
Music will begin an hour after the event's start time.
