Yard Waste Collection

The city is responsible for yard waste pickup and uses a street zone system to divide the city into zones, enabling the sanitation team to spread pickups throughout the week and provide more efficient yard waste and leaf collection services. If possible, please keep cars off the streets on yard waste pickup days to assist with leaf collection and street sweeping. Please note, yard waste is not required to be bagged or put in containers for pickup.

Yard Waste Guidelines

  • Items should be at the curb ready for sanitation collection by 7 a.m.
  • No yard waste should be in plastic bags.
  • Yard waste is not required to be bagged or put in containers for pickup. If residents choose to use containers, they should not exceed 32 gallons and must be marked "Yard" or "Yard Waste." Brown yard waste bags are also accepted.
  • Logs or tree limbs must be no longer than three feet, and not more than four inches in diameter and stacked neatly at the curb. This material will be collected as rapidly as possible.
  • Trees, bushes or other vegetation from commercial tree trimmers, landscapers or building contractors will not be picked up by the city.
  • If services are interrupted due to inclement weather, road closures, or other unforeseen circumstances, all efforts will be made to pick up yard waste on the next consecutive day.

Key Tips to Help with Service

  • DON'T park vehicles close to leaf piles.
  • DO park vehicles in driveways from 7 to 11 a.m. on the scheduled yard waste pickup day and allow the vacuum trucks enough space to collect leaf piles.

  • DON'T mix leaves with other debris that can damage the vacuum and cause equipment breakdowns.
  • DO have leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day AND remind yard services to have leaves out at least by the evening before pickup.
  • DO keep yard debris separate from leaves.

  • DON'T put leaves or yard debris in the street, which creates major stormwater issues.
  • DO place separate leaf and debris piles on the verge (between the sidewalk and street) or in the yard adjacent to the street.

If access to yard waste is blocked by vehicles or other items, a door knocker will be left explaining why the leaves or debris were not collected.
