The City of Avondale Estates Board of Mayor and Commissioners (BOMC) updated its meeting schedule to include twice monthly meetings and work sessions, streamlining the process for meetings and reducing the need for special called meetings that can be problematic to schedule and conduct on short notice.
The BOMC will now meet on the second and fourth Wednesday each month at 5:30 p.m. unless holiday or other scheduling conflicts arise. Work sessions will immediately follow these meetings, providing an opportunity to discuss issues, proposals, and considerations for future meetings. This new schedule provides more time between work session discussions and the next meeting for further research and consideration.
Previously, the BOMC met once a month for a work session and then five days later for its regular meeting. That scheduling resulted in the addition of special called meetings to address issues that popped up between monthly meetings. Such instances should be rare or even eliminated under the new calendar.
The BOMC, as well as all advisory boards, continues to meet virtually via Zoom. Links to meetings are provided on the City’s website calendar at www.AvondaleEstates.org/Calendar and can be accessed up to 15 minutes before a meeting. Recordings of previous meetings are available online, as well as upcoming meeting agendas when ready at www.AvondaleEstates.org/AgendaCenter.
