Avondale Children's Choir: Spring Concert

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

This year’s concert theme is “Folk Songs From Around the World.” Each of the three choirs associated with ACC will present a wide variety of folk songs. A sampling of some of the titles include: Hitori – a Japanese folk song, Simple Gifts – an early American folk song, J’entends Le Moulin – a French Canadian folk song, Shenandoah – a traditional American folk song, and Bonse Aba – a Zambian gathering song.

Under Founding Director, R. Mark Green of Avondale Estates, the ACC has grown to include over 125 singers in three choirs. ACC singers range in age from six-years-old to eighteen-years-old. This past year 23 members of the ACC sang as part of the DCINY National Treble Choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Also, they have performed with The Atlanta Opera Workshop; held join concerts with the DeKalb Choral Guild, DeKalb School of the Arts, and Decatur Civic Chorus; as well as performing a major concert at the state convention of the Georgia Retired Educators Association in 2013.

The residents of Avondale Estates are cordially invited to attend. The concert is free. There will be a reception afterward in the church’s Family Life Center.
