The ACIM program works like this; after you have called 911 to report a missing child, child abduction, elderly (often with Alzheimer’s), mentally challenge, or disabled individuals, an officer will verify that an individual is missing and A Child is Missing technician is called.  The officer gives the technician the pertinent information about the missing person, including description, clothes worn and the time/location last seen.

The ACIM technician uses satellite computer-mapping technology to identify the areas where the individual was last seen.  An imagery/satellite program is also used to increase the map-tracking for accuracy and to help visualize “hot spots” that may harbor the missing child or attract “wandering.”

Next an individual message is recorded with the description of the person and the alert is phoned to homes/businesses in the area of where the missing person was last seen.  The alert message asks residents/businesses to check their property for the missing person and to call their local law enforcement agency (911) should they have any information.  If a lead is obtained, the search can be expanded.

A Child Is Missing technicians are on call 24/7, 365 days a year.  The technician will check with the officer on the scene until the child is found or the search has been called off in that area.  They are there to serve and assist law enforcement agencies in the search and recovery of missing children, elderly (often with Alzheimer’s), mentally or physically challenged individuals.

ACIM does not have unlisted phone numbers in its calling files, but can add unlisted numbers and cell numbers provided by those who want to be contacted in case of a search in their area.  To add your unlisted number or cell number please visit www.achildismissing.org and click on the link “Click on Get Telephone, Text, and Wireless Notification Sign Up Now (Click)” next to the phone icon.  No one has access to the phone numbers that are used, but ACIM.
