Lake Avondale Advisory Board
The Lake Avondale Advisory Board was created by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners to provide expert advice to the City in preserving the beauty and vitality of Lake Avondale. The Board consists of five members who are residents of the City and have experience in watershed/lake management, natural resource management, environmental management and environmental engineering.

The Board reviews the conditions of the lake and its surrounding areas and makes recommendations to the Board of Mayor and Commissioners for Lake improvement projects. Meetings of the Lake Avondale Advisory Board are conducted on the third Thursday of each month and are open to the public.

Personnel Board

The Personnel Board consists of five members who are residents of the City of Avondale Estates. The members are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners and each serve a term of four years. Meetings of the Personnel Board are held on a as needed basis.

The operating procedures of the Personnel Board are those set out in the Associate Handbook. The duties of the board is to hear associate appeals resulting from alleged adverse employer action including, but not limited to, violations of the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder and alleged unwarranted demotion, dismissal or suspension.

Planning and Zoning Board

The Planning and Zoning Board consists of five members who are residents of the City of Avondale Estates. The members are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners and each serve a term of four years. Meetings of the Planning and Zoning Board are held on the third Monday and are open to the public.

The Board reviews and makes recommendations to applicants requesting a change in their land use and the Board of Mayor and Commissioners who make the final decision to approve or deny an applicant’s request during a public hearing on the proposal.

Tree Board
The Tree Board consists of 7 members who are appointed by the Mayor and each serve 2-year terms. The Tree Board meets monthly.

It is the responsibility of the Tree Board to study, investigate, counsel and advise the City Manager who will administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting and removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets, and in other public areas. Such plan will be presented annually to the governing body and upon its acceptance and approval shall constitute the official comprehensive City tree plan. The City tree board, when requested by the governing body shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter or question coming within the scope of its work.
