Architectural Review Board
The Architectural Review Board consists of 5 members who are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners and each serve 3-year terms. The Board meets the first Monday of every month immediately following the Historic Preservation Commission Meeting and are open to the public.
The Architectural Review Board will have the authority to review applications for architectural design approval utilizing the adopted Urban Design Guidelines and the Urban Design Details (City of Avondale Estates Central Business District Overlay Zoning Code). The Board shall determine whether applications substantially conform to adopted Urban Design Guidelines and Urban Design Details for the Central Business District. Applications in substantial conformity with the Urban Design Guidelines and Urban Design Details for the Central Business District shall be approved by the Architectural Review Board.

Members of the Architectural Review BoardBoard of Appeals
The Board of Appeals consists of five members who are residents of the City of Avondale Estates. The members are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners and each serve a term of 3-years. Meetings of the Board of Appeals are held on an as-needed basis and are open to the public.
The Board hears appeals where there is an alleged error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Code Enforcement Officer. The Board also authorizes variances from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the conditions listed in the ordinance and decide on other matters where the Board’s decision is necessary.
